In All Things Love

Scott over at Verum Serum dropped me a note this morning to let me know about a situation in which a good deal of prayer and support is needed for a fellow brother in Christ and blogger, Ken Silva.

Ken posted a short note this to CRN yesterday:

My family learned yesterday afternoon that my youngest brother made the tragic decision to end his life. Unfortunately, there was no warning or prior indication something like this could occur and he leaves behind two teenage sons.

Whether we agree about issues of big or small import to the church, it is incumbent upon all brothers to have compassion and to be compassionate on those who are suffering.

Please lift Ken, his family and his two nephews in prayer and keep them in your prayers during this time.   If you would like to leave notes of encouragement, you can mail them directly to him at apprising@hughes.net or leave them in the comments to this post.

Love must be sincere. Hate what is evil; cling to what is good. Be devoted to one another in brotherly love. Honor one another above yourselves. Never be lacking in zeal, but keep your spiritual fervor, serving the Lord. Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer. Share with God’s people who are in need. Practice hospitality.

Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse.

Rejoice with those who rejoice; mourn with those who mourn.

This breaks my heart. I will lift up brother Ken. May God’s grace pour down like rain upon his family.

I hate death. I hate sin. I pray God’s grace and mercy through His Holy Spirit will comfort Ken and his family during this time.

I pray the man’s sons will be comforted and that their hearts will not grow hard because of this.

All things in love?

I believe the Spirit is grieved, not with strong arguments about truth, but about the visceral hatred that is spread accross the blog horizon. Isn’t love the highest calling of the church, for without it we can do nothing? And “telling the truth” is not multitasking for love.

That to me, is more vile than anything Ken has stated. Repent… and I will pray that bitterness does not continue to harm you.

Mark,

Your response is no better than the behavior you criticize. We are to mourn with those who mourn – not only those who are kind and compassionate brothers, but all men.

We take no comfort in the distress of others – none. Period.

Rick – we don’t delete comments here. It is better for the community to repudiate such responses than pretend they never happen. How else to learn & correct?

A little over the top eh?

I’ve seen Ken say some darn hurtful things in the past but nothing live you’ve displayed here Mark.

I think you should apologize to Ken Mark…..whatcha think?
