Just a quick update to let you know that apparently Pastor/Teacher/Theologian Silva is not without a sense of humor. He posted this at SOL: Martin Luther Says No…To Women Pastors. (You can do your own work tracing it back to Apprising ?.)
I’m glad Pastor/Teacher/Theologian/Father/Rev/Prophet is not without a sense of irony. I wonder how he will explain to his board of directors his affiliation with a certain blogger who is anything but in compliance with Martin Luther after making that post.
Seriously.

Jerry – In this I can heartily agree.
God says yes to women rebukers, women castigators, women reprovers, women discerners, women mockers, women demeaners, and women pontificators.
But women pastors? No way.
(begin laugh track)
hahahahahahahahahahahahaha
I have a deep theological question:
If a married woman is the pastor of the church, at what point does she become the authority and head over her husband? Is it when they reach the church parking lot? Is it when they enter the church building? Is it on Sunday morning?
And when the husband becomes submission to the ecclesiastical ruler over him (Hebrews) does his head have to be covered? And if so is a Notre Dame football cap acceptable?
Rick,
You need to get over it. Ingrid is not a pastor. She is a radio host. She is a mom. A blogger. She is not a pastor.
And I would say, neither is this woman- but she is.
And Luther is rolling over in his grave.
No, PB. Kenny needs to get over it. Luther is not rolling over in his grave. He believed in resurrection. He’s not dead.
Everyone agrees that Ingrid is not a pastor, but it’s absolute nonsense to posit that Luther (or Edwards or Spurgeon) would be anything but absolutely horrified at her ministry.
Call them anachronistic or culturally bound if you like… but if you claim that those men wouldn’t consider her actions outside the realm of appropriate behavior for a woman, then you’ve clearly drunk the kool-aid.
Little known fact:
Katherina Luther called Eck a clown theologian.
Here’s a nice little gem from our friend Martin Luther:
“The word and works of God is quite clear, that women were made either to be wives or prostitutes.”
Or how about this?
“Even though they grow weary and wear themselves out with child- bearing, it does not matter; let them go on bearing children till they die, that is what they are there for.”
Hmmm…..
In a matter of seconds I have become a Lutheran!
Another little known fact:
Katherina Luther had a greater anointing than did her husband in hating Jews. A virtuous woman is hard to find!
Board Member——http://www.firstcongregationalof douglas.com/index.html Associate Pastor is…………..? The Apprising Board has no real teeth.
ncgal gets the investigative journalism award!
Thanks Rick. You would be surprised what you can find out when you have time and the internet. Things stay on there for a long, long time. #10 I like Jews.
I don’t get the connection with the link…
#14 Hypocrisy?? I don’t believe in women pastors and I will write article after article about that fact but one of my BOARD MEMBERS has a woman as an Associate Pastor. Ironic. I really really believe this sorta , kinda, maybe.
Associate….
Hmmm….
lets look up that definition….
oh please…we’re going to split hairs over how she’s an ‘associate’ pastor so it’s not really the same thing….?
Please tell me that’s not where you’re going…
John,
If Rob Bell had a woman associate pastor, you would approve?
That’s the thing that always gets me in these discussions. A lot of people who supposedly think women shouldn’t be pastors have no problem with women doing all the stuff pastors do as long as they don’t have the title. Does a human-given title really matter that much in God’s eyes? It seems to me that the whole emphasis on title is really a not-to-subtle denial on the priesthood of all believers, anyway.
I believe the modern office of Pastor is not at all biblical; not that churches should not have pastors, it’s just that the office is not biblically prescribed… it’s not unbiblical, it’s abiblical…
That makes trying to split hairs between types of pastor even more silly. Technically, Christ is the head of the church, therefore any female pastor is subject to him…
#16 http://www.firstcongregationalofdouglas.com/staff.html Please read job description especially the part about filling in when the pastor is away. You are playing word games now. Excuse, Excuse Excuse.
I know it’s off subject…but this is from Silva’s article, and the question I have is:
How can one be “quasi-universalist”? Can I just make up words that are self-contradicting too? That would be fun…
I’m a Satanic-Christian!
The woman is probably a committed believer, however her ordained pastor status is unbiblical and goes against the Luther article.
She is a “woman pastor“.
One of those words is not true.
It always amuses me when ODM’s get to define the rules of the game.
I know exactly what Rob Bell was saying and it wasn’t what he said.
Associate doesn’t mean real pastor.
Joe you’re a jerk.
around and around the heretic wheel goes where it stops is where I decide it stops.
