Regarding an LHT 3500-word (!) post with which he agrees, the “Admin” at Slice declares that those who choose not to read it are “lazy”. Over-arching labels are no real surprise from that site. I note it only because it’s relevant to a later point.
To be honest, I found the statement that appeared two sentences later to be kinda funny:
Those who actually care about the wolves entering the flock will read this report …
Isn’t that just a derivation of the statement at the bottom of the “[Fw: [FWD: [Fwd: [FW:” email (that you got from Aunt Martha) that says that if you really love Jesus, you’ll pass this on to 10 friends?
But I was taken aback by the sentence in-between these two (referring to the afore-mentioned “lazy”):
These kind are inheriting the unbiblical and dangerous theology they deserve.
Our entire faith is about us not getting what we “deserve”. I have to say that I’m really surprised by the candid nature of how Slice has delineated itself from, ya know, Christianity.

There are many new and dangerous theologies being bandied about, and I am not just referring to innovative methodologies. All I need to know is that this pastor quotes Brian MacLaren as a source.
End of discussion.
This starts with “Lighthouse Trails brings…” I’m out.
LHT looses me right at the front page where it states:
How is anyone to trust a “research” website that does not even manage to research basic definitions for the very things they are arguing against?
Brendt,
Thanks for alerting me to the alert at Slice that alerted me to the alert at LHT. Thankfully, you alerted me in time to this alert and I can cancel my flight plans to CA and skip worshiping there at Calvary Chapel. Whew!! That was close. I almost went to CA. I am grateful for CRN.info. You have alerted us to many alerts that have saved us many, many dollars in airline fees.
To think I almost went all the way from Ohio to CA.

LHT is a joke.
Just another round of self-important, self-appointed “ministers”.
Jerry, be a lert. The world needs more lerts.
You know, I had a little extra time today…*yawn*…and I was going to do some…*yawn*…reading. I thought I would start with LH…nevermind. I’m too tired.
I’m not taking out the trash either.
Not that semi-derailment is all that uncommon in the meta here, but you guys are going after the smaller issue (the weakness of LHT).
The final quote that I cite doesn’t require careful analysis. Nor is this an issue of differing opinions on how to interpret Scripture.
The “admin” at Slice is openly celebrating something that is specifically in contradiction to the very basics of the Christian faith.
I understood the irony. Sorta like the irony when Ingrid ranted on and on about how “these people” were so deceived and how horrible they were, only to close her rant suggesting that God Himself was deceiving them.
There you have it:
Convoluted squared.
But that’s just it, Rick. I don’t see this as ironic.
Irony is Phil Johnson using something that he knows is false to promote a greater truth.
Irony is John MacArthur calling for gentility in speech in an article called “The Rape of…”
Irony is Mike Ratliff griping about someone allegedly calling him unsaved and then applauding Ken Silva when he does the same thing on Mike’s blog.
Irony is being simultaneously labeled as an “enemy of the cross” and being told that you are the one spewing hate.
Irony is insisting that another blogger always “name names” and then allowing someone to contribute to your blog as “Admin”.
But this is not ironic. This is a blatant statement against the very foundation of Christianity.
Put another way, much of what I have a problem with regarding the ADMs is that things start as extra-biblical, but often wander into anti-biblical territory, and perhaps sometimes by sheer accident.
This statement plants itself firmly and irrevocably in anti-biblical territory from the start.
I love irony and you, Brendt, have given us some beautiful examples of it. Let me try.
Irony is LHT supposing that they are actually lighting the way for anyone.
You are right. That’s not irony as much as it is comedy and tragedy.
Phil Johnson…
what a joke.
There’s only two words that apply to him and his hypocrisy:
Hugh Jass.
People tried to bring that up on the Pyro site and they got banned and their comments deleted.
Seems no one is allowed to point out the truth when it applies to the self-appointed, self-important magisterium.
I sort of missed that whole episode. Did he ever apologize or say he was wrong in putting that satire site up or did he just remove it without comment?
He made it disappear and also tried to get any evidence for it removed from the FFF site too.
Somebody went over to Pyro after Rev. Jass’ recent rant about Mark Driscoll and brought it up.
Frank Turk got pretty belligerent about it, if I recall correctly.
