The Spawn of Piper* calls us to self-examination in 22 Words.

Fighting gay marriage like it’s killing civilization seems inconsistent amid cultural curses like adultery, groundless divorce, and pornography—all hetero and legal.

*Yes, that Piper.

Yes, but is the spawn of Piper ODM approved?

  2. Tim Reed, Owosso MI Says:

no steve camp already slammed him for being too “contextual” by having the desire to actually communicate ideas.

  3. Tim Reed, Owosso MI Says:

    Here it is.

  4. Joe C Says:

Isn’t that what most of us have been saying all along?

“All the homosexuals aren’t Christian and are going to hell!” Says the Right.

    Okay you liars…thieves…adulterers at heart…

    “But we’re regenerate! And saved!”

    Good luck.

    You know what I mean?

    Joe

  5. Rick Frueh Says:

In the article Chris linked, Camp makes both a reference to 25 words or less blogs and his friend James White. I believe that is a marriage that I would endorse.

  6. iggy Says:

I like ole James White… I credit him for me not being a Calvinist and i mean that respectfully as I mean it that I like him. I just disagree.

Now, it all came out when a Jim W from oldtruth.com (a buddy) would come and say some very mean and nasty things…

Dummy me thought Jim W was James White as Jim B has links to James W on his blog…

But Jim should be so flattered.

James came around to set me straight and was very gracious about it.. I was mentioned on his blog and had over 200 hits a day for about a week!

So, I like James White even with all the gymnastics he does to prove Calvinism is right.

I hope he can also bring a few to Jesus…

    iggy

This is addressed to the Knights of the Submissions. You should add a “submissions comments” where when someone proffers a submission for a post it can be flushed out without infringing on the design for that place. Just a thought.

I thought John’s comment there was a “Wow” as Tim said. A convention of bloggers might end up in a fistfight! Then the world would know who Jesus really is!

  8. Joe Martino Says:

    Rick,
That place would be if a post ever substantiated. We let anyone comment here with very few people being moderated. Very few rules, don’t cuss too much, and don’t editorialize on the submissions section. That shouldn’t be that hard to follow.

    Herein lies the problem….
while young Piper is quite correct in his assessment, the other side not only rails against the right wing focus on abortion and homosexuality, it tells us that these things aren sin at all. I have seen comments on this blog by alleged believers who call themselves pro life because they are against the war,and then spout that they are pro choice when it comes to abortion issues…..???
The scriptures tell us what sin is, and homosexuality is a sin. Abortion is a sin. Of course adultery, porn etc etc is sin. Jesus said to remove the log from your on eye, which tells us that it is possible then to do so and to judge rightly.
The pomo/liberal argument is that we can never judge. That is in itself a falsehood and unscriptural.
This blog continues in its neo cessationist ways by ignoring the indwelling of the Spirit,(i.e. call it gnosticism, that makes jesus a gnostic btw) or if there is a Holy Spirit He only spoke in first century context.
When everything is shoved into a first century preterist, open theist, neo legalist context, then you have the anything goes mentality that this blog so aptly presents.
If you take the do not judge because we are all sinners argument to its inevitably stupid end, then no one can be a police officer or a magistrate;we can never have the legislatures pass another law as they are all sinful and therefore unqualified to pass jdgement.
This blog is a good indicator of what happens when you are enamored with the power of your own searing intellect
    If you take

  10. Rick Frueh Says:

You should then place a word limit to each submission so that the original submission is not a disguised comment in itself. Again, just a thought. Richard’s “submission” was an editorial disguised as a submission.

    Not a big deal though.

  11. Joe Martino Says:

I give up. Except to say, that Rick you should feel free to quote and link here in your post on your BLOG. Have fun.

  12. Rick Frueh Says:

    I give up. Finally. :)

  13. Break The Terror Says:

Jesus said to remove the log from your on eye, which tells us that it is possible then to do so and to judge rightly.

Wait…are you seriously taking that verse as a justification to judge others? Hehehehehehehe…that’s precious.

Jesus was being sarcastic! You have to read for the tone sometimes, my goodness…

Oh, and lots of people hold “pro-life” views personally, yet see that the so-called “pro-life” movement is actually a fraud, and that the pro-choice movement does more to reduce the number of abortions performed in this country than the so-called “pro-life” movement. Those statistics come from the liberal fields of “statistics” and “research,” and the issue is hashed out mentally in the liberal realm of “nuance.”

  14. Chris L Says:

    Evan,

While I agree with much of your comment, I would point out that ’statistics’, ‘research’ and ‘nuance’ are not liberal/conservative properties…

  15. Break The Terror Says:

    Haha, yes, I know, Chris.

That’s the point I was making…that there are some who are so…brainwashed, i mean such…True Believers…that when statistics, research, and nuance contradict what they believe to be true, they still double down into their self-constructed insanity.

    That’s all. ;)

  16. jazzact13 Says:

–Fighting gay marriage like it’s killing civilization seems inconsistent amid cultural curses like adultery, groundless divorce, and pornography—all hetero and legal.–

He may have a point, if we weren’t concerned about those things, too. But we are, so he doesn’t.

  17. Rick Frueh Says:

“they still double down into their self-constructed insanity.”

    I’m all in! :)

  18. Break The Terror Says:

if we weren’t concerned about those things, too. But we are, so he doesn’t.

    ehhhh…

call me when the Christian church and its front organizations start spending millions of dollars in the political realm to spread disinformation campaigns about those who get divorces, and attempt to maim the United States Constitution, with an utter lack of regard for or understanding of civics or the meaning of said Constitution, in order to prohibit people from committing adultery.

until then, people are right to acknowledge that much of the American Christian church is utterly and unreasonably obsessed with homosexuality, though most of you/them don’t even know gay people beyond the false caricatures painted for you by the likes of the American “Family” Association, ok thx bye…

  19. Rick Frueh Says:

We are concerned? Oh yea, the church doors are open every night with people on their faces in prayer. Thousands upon thousands of churches are paying millions of dollars of interest on new buildings while millions starve. Take a poll of how many choir members are either divorced or have been unfaithful once. Etc., etc., and etc.

Several years ago one church was packed on a Monday night. Why? Prayer for missions? Prayer for gays? Prayer for our children? No, the County Commission held a meeting to let people speak out against a new gentlemen’s club opening in our area. Did they ever even think about those precious girls? How about the addicted me? The pastor of the largest church in the area made the point that it would decrease the real estate values.
That club operates tonight and NO ONE CARES.

David Livingston cared. John Wesley cared. Carey cared. And I will tell us all something I have not shared. The guy Shane Clairborne at least cares for the human man. I cannot ascribe to his doctrine, but the Holy Spirit uses people with whom I could never agree to convict me personally about “getting dirty” with the sinful world.

And voting against homosexual rights is nothing more than attempting to protect our so called moral lifestyles. We don’t love gay people and many people feel they deserve hell. Hypocrisy doesn’t begin to address what much of the church exhibits. We wouldn’t drink from the same glass as a gay person and yet the holiest man who ever lived allowed and embraced the spit that flowed from the lips of wicked men.

Yea, we’ll all lose sleep over the plight of the gay community. And if we define “care” as I hope they get saved, then we are pitiful, very pitiful.
