Itodyaso pointed out a facinating blog.

I highlight these comments:

A blogger named Clostridium:
“Well, Ray, I work in cancer research. I am trying, along with many other researchers who make little money, to try and find cures for awful diseases. We use tools such as evolutionary theory, which you find “unscientific” to try and deal with diseases that your “God” appears to be indifferent about. If I had the power to cure a child with cancer, I would be morally obliged to do so. I am working on it. You claim your God could do this…but chooses not to, despite being claimed to be aware of everything simultaneously. Doesn’t this suggest your God is malevolent?”

A blogger named Ray Comfort:
“Clos…No doubt you would do anything to stop kids getting cancer … you would do anything except humble yourself and ask for forgiveness and for His blessing back on this nation. You care about kids, but not that much. Prove me wrong.”

With Christians like Ray, who needs enemies?

That attitude is the result of many ingredients.

*Nationalistic idolatry
*The law of Moses
*Self righteousness
*Extreme Calvinism
*Judgmentalism

Quite a menu…

Is The 700 Club holding open auditions to replace Robertson?

This is something that I am dealing with in my marriage. My wife LOVES Ray Comfort, she thinks he is so right on so many fronts. Personally I can’t stand his strategy. Did anyone catch his and Cameron’s debate last year with the Rational Responders? He got thrashed, his coke can and banana concept does nothing to defend his position, they are appeals not proof. The fact is we have a FAITH, it is not testable, it is not provable. You can take a position of naturalism or theism but the fact of the matter is we will never know how exactly how it happened. I do know that it is hard to take a literal position of 6 days 6000 years. The folks like Comfort, Answers in Genesis, et al are going to lose that battle and it is going to hurt them in the long run. I keep telling this to my wife as she is TOTALLY against evolution. Like most approaches I think we need to take a humble approach and say we don’t know, maybe God used evolution and at some point put consciousness in “Adam and Eve”.

The evolution thing is important but secondary. I used to be a theistic evolutionist but now am not, however I am not a young earter. Forget about Comfort or MacArthur of Bell or anyone, fall back in love with Christ alone and let everyone else be His servant to you and your wife.

That blog made me sick to my stomach.

I’ll tell you where God’s dealings are with this sinful nation, in the churches and homes where we are comforting and supporting cancer patients, in these droughts where God’s hands and feet bring water in, in these hurricanes when total strangers come out of no where to provide shelter, food and the first steps towards rebuilding lives.

They are providing water and medical care for those aliens dying from their traveling that Ray Comfort subtly calls a curse in his bog.

This destruction, this poverty, these are all the actions of our sins coming back to us. This isn’t God’s cosmic attack, it’s God allowing us to make our own choices. God’s will, as spelled out in scripture, is for us to meet these needs and care for those affected by this destruction caused by our sin and evil desires. If it was all always God’s direct punishment, we could skip town or sit on our hands. But last I checked that is not the testimony of the scriptures. The rain falls on the righteous and the wicked.

Sure you can cut out a verse from Deuteronomy and paste it on other countries, but last I checked God doesn’t have a chosen nation anymore, last I check Christ changed it all.

I hate when a Christian says something to the effect “No God is a God of Love and Mercy…but no he’s not.” They take other aspects of God and make it trump the Love and the Mercy to the point of being able to ignore them to make your point.

It’s funny, people like Ray Comfort make me want to believe in evolution, because it gives me hope that in a million years maybe we will evolve past acting like Ray Comfort.

No, not proof at all. If a monkey can use it, maybe it was made for the monkey instead.

I wanted to point out that my good friend Seymore Spurgeon was the author of me. Unlike CRN we are proud to put our own names up with our posts as they are inspired by God to point out the rampant heresy that run in YOUR Christian faith today. If it had been about OUR pure and holy Doctrines We would have been quick to point out that We are more Right than everyone else including other ODM’s. Seymore is MY disciple and has learned fast. He is still not at great as I am yet seems to quickly be surpassing the skills of the great and wonderful Ken Silva.

Beware though that if people like R.C> SProuls and Ray Comfort are slipping to the point of making Madonna look good YOU have some real problems. And I say this in all gentleness, if you are not regenerate like us, you will burn in hell and OUR loving God of Wrath and Anger will punish and torture you making Gitmo look like a country club! Hell is hot and to show how “hip” I am, Kiss recently released an album called “Hotter than Hell” and if you are lucky enough to be Elect like my esteemed colleges and myself you to can repent and not have to burn. You then can stand above all others as we do and judge and condemn as the Bible states we will do. Have you not read it when it states “you will judge angles”? So stop snivveling and suck it up and be real men of God like us or just resolve yourself to not be Elect and burn baby burn!

Believe because,

The problem with the banana argument is that the modern banana is the product of years of domesticating wild bananas that look nothing like a domesticate banana with all those perfectly “created” ridges that fit perfectly in your created hand, thus demonstrating perfectly that there is a creator.

Whatever.

Another thing…

I saw Kirk Cameron doing the “you’re a piece of crap” manipulation…oops…I mean evangelism. Sorry.

It was near my home, on the crowded promenade in Santa Monica. I knew what was coming, but I watched because it’s always Ray being the fascist.

Surprisingly, Kirk got through to this one guy…you could see it on his face and the things he said. I think it’s because Kirk can say the same things, but he’s got a softer tone. Ray just sounds like a self-important, self-righteous windbag.

Anyway…

I thought…”good Lord! Maybe I was wrong to write this dreck off 100%. It looks like this guy really feels bad about his condition before God. It looks like this guy is actually experiencing conviction.”

And then my hopes were shattered.

The guy said he agreed and needed God.
Did Kirk stop right there and lead him through some kind of a prayer, etc. right on camera? I mean what else could you ask for as a vindication of your “biblical” methodology, right?

But NO!!!!

He tells the guy that sometime tonight, when he gets home he should pray to God and admit his sin and ask him to come into his life or whatever….and then SENDS HIM ON HIS WAY!!!!

This was on camera proof that these people don’t give a steamy pile about the souls of these people. They’re just out to prove people wrong, wash themselves and their sycophantic viewership, and communicate the only gospel they know: The good news of their own righteousness to themselves.

The other thing…Ray’s response to that blogger…

As if that blogger’s repentance is what will heal a kid with cancer…

there isn’t a word that sufficiently describes what a complete jackass that man is.

i would suggest that Kirk Cameron’s “ministry” is at least 50% a result of the fact that in the “Christian acting” industry, he’s top-notch, while in the real world, he exhausted the limits of his talent as Mike Seaver on “Growing Pains” and would have had to get a regular job.

same with his sister, D. J. Tanner, but she doesn’t have to “minister” as much because she married a Russian hockey player, so she’s taken care of financially.

I think we still need to be careful what tone we use when refering to other Christians no matter how far right they appear

and then SENDS HIM ON HIS WAY!!!!

nc, perhaps Kirk wanted God to work on his heart and make sure there was no man-made manipulation?

Evan,

Any results in evangelism is because of God… that is 100% with Him…

As far as WoTM… I respect much of what they are doing… I love to listen to Ray shout in his heavy accent at the person he is witnessing to… something about a Scottish accent that seems to soften and bring humor into all of it.

But, I have heard what nc has…. they lead someone to Jesus then send them off… no follow up or anything (which may be good in this case!)

My problems is this is not using the Law properly, but abusively… we cannot convict others of sin, the Holy Spirit convict us of sin and leads us to repentance out of GOd’s kindness… Not fear…

Personally peanut butter is a major vice of mine. I love it and can without realizing it, eat an entire jar… but no, I have not used it to teach anything with… but in a Sunday school class it is a nice treat on crackers.

Chuck Missler though is one of my favorite teachers, which does not mean I agree with him on all things. I love his “Nephlim” conspiracy… he does it the best of anyone and is the most convincing of anyone I ahve heard… I do not agree about the pre trib… he sees it in every book of the bible… just like I see Nephlim… errr I mean… well never mind.

If you can get hold of his through the bible in 24 hours series it is worth the listen to… educational and entertaining. Seriously I hear something I miss every time I listen to that series.
