John and Scott - coming my way! I do believe the most interesting point was made by Tim when he suggested that if the church put all the money and effort they spent on politics into social ministry that it would be more effective and much more Biblical in scope.
A very good podcast. No need to vote, the King remains in power!

Fellas,
I was wondering, perhaps I should wonder elsewhere, does one need special computer software in order to make podcasts? I am interested in this technology, but have no idea where to start. Could you direct me? (You can send me email if you like in order not to interrupt this thread.)

Dan,
All you really need is a way to record your voice onto a PC (I can walk you through that if you’d like), a place to store your recordings online (archive.org offers free storage if you sign up), and a place to post links to your recordings. After that there’s a few other thigns you can do to promote it and make it sound better etc. but that’s the basics.

Dan - listening to Tim’s podcast should convince you that anyone can do it!

Tim,
Thanks. I currently record my Sunday sermons on a small digital recording device and then upload them to my computer. Is this different from actually recording them on the computer or will it work all the same? I really appreciate your time. I’d like to add, at minimum, excerpts from my Sunday sermons in podcast form to my blog. Anyhow, thanks.

As long as they’re in a format your audience can easily play you’re fine (every digital player and PC I know of can play MP3s, that’s usually what everyone use, WMA and AAC files are more limited, but can work)
Also, if you’re using wordpress.com (which I seem to recall you are) their built in RSS feed will work, but I suggest using Feed Burner because it sets it up for itunes use, and if you decide to take your blog elsewhere you can take it with you.

Tim,
Thanks. That’s a lot of information. I looked at the feedburner thing and I’m not sure I really understand what it is. I’m guessing I need to set up an account at feedburner and archive.org? After those two things are done, then I upload mp3 files to archive? I’m sorry to bug you and take up space here. If you like I could just email you.
