One C?N writer posted this article yesterday, entitled

The Marks of Such as Believe in Christ - Part6

Do Not Pass Judgement on One Another

‘nough said.  The mark of a true believe is that they do not pass jusdgement on one another.  There is enough irony there for you to ponder over all day long.

I followed the link on Nathan’s post about the marks of a believer through CRN to the original article - the first comment was from Rick (Henry)… Where has he been lately?

The Scriptures define judgement. paul said we are to judge what goes on in the church, and not let “outsiders” do the judging. BTW he did not say that this applies only to lawsuits.

Rick Freuh has apparently withdrawn from the blog wars and any and all “dialogue” A good move in my humble but accurate opinion. In all actuality, he has a pretty good blog.

BTW on your post requiring a “password” to comment, is it possible to do that with the entire blog content also? Just a thought.

He made a New Year’s resolution of sorts not to comment on blogs.

  4. Bruce Gerencser Says:

Don’t you think when pressed that many ODM’s consider many of us unsaved?

Me with my liberalism. And besides I hang out here what does that make me? :)

Several of you with your “Church of Christ” theology?

    Iggy’s “grace” theology

    Some of you “curse”

Some of you are “emerging, emergents”

And worst of all you allow rock concerts in the hallowed halls of a Church building

So ya see…………..we are not considered to be Christians so they feel they have every right to “judge” us.

While they may not utter (because it would show how deep their hatred runs) this, but I suspect my point is valid.

  5. Joe C Says:

Well Bruce, if that’s the case and we’re not believers, so they can ‘conscience free’ judge us…then I wonder what they think of this?

What business is it of mine to judge those outside the church? Are you not to judge those inside? God will judge those outside. “Expel the wicked man from among you.” 1 Cor. 5:12-13

Damned if you do, damned if you don’t, it seems.

But actually, after reading Mike’s post there on his site, it’s a great post, and the matter discussed in it has been talked about here a lot too. I believe what he wrote to be accurate, but utterly ironic and dissapointing to see that they can’t see such irony. Oh well. Prayer abound!

  6. Bruce Gerencser Says:

you are damned because you used damned

I suspect the passage in I Cor 5 is ignored or they will say we are taking it out of context.

    Bruce

  7. Joe C Says:

    I agree.

I think there’ll be a lot of “damned” people in heaven.

    =)

  8. Phil Miller Says:

I think there’ll be a lot of “damned” people in heaven.

Have you been reading Brian McLaren again? ;-)

  9. pastorboy Says:

    Phil,

Brien McLaren believes in heaven now?

  10. Joe C Says:

I think you’re thinking of Doug Pagitt and how he doesn’t think heaven is a ‘place’, so to speak?

I’ve never seen any emergent deny the existence of heaven.

    Joe

  11. iggy Says:

Nope, we just ask, “Which one are you going to spend eternity in? The one now, or the New Heaven and New Earth?” We like to say it as it is stated in the bible and not lean on just tradition and the “accepted”.

    LOL!
    iggy

  12. Joe C Says:

Yeah but Iggy, everyone knows what “heaven” is. Use terms everyone understands, it makes it ‘relevant’ to them when sharing the Gospel. Besides, start with ‘heaven’ and then explain what that means in Biblical terminology.

It’s just like how we say to people “Satan rebelled against God”, even though it doesn’t clearly state that in the Bible. It’s easier to start with what people already ‘know’ and go from there.

    Joe

  13. iggy Says:

    Joe,

I just love to tweak those who claim to be more biblically accurate and stand on some high ground talking down to others and point out that they are not using “biblical” language and are using “language of tradition”…

I say heaven and even state that some go to hell… I do mostly state that they will spend eternity in the Lake of Fire… but biblically it does not state we will live in heaven for eternity, but the New Heaven and New Earth and we will dwell in the New Jerusalem…

I think that there need be more relevance to get the biblical truth out than to adjust truth to fit the what others believe…

    iggy

  14. Joe C Says:

I think that there need be more relevance to get the biblical truth out than to adjust truth to fit the what others believe…

I didn’t quite say that (go look)…but yeah, I agree with you there man.

  15. iggy Says:

    Joe,

    I wasn’t stating what you think… that is why I stated “I think…” LOL!…. = )

    iggy

  16. Joe C Says:

Oh sorry…it’s just that kind of sentence usually implies you don’t agree with my premise and are correcting it. So I took as you misunderstood me. Either way, we’re not in disagreement lol…this is the longest not in disagreement skirmish ever….lol

    Joe

  17. Kevin I Says:

I’m sure they have enough herminutical gymnastics on deck to make “judgement” not apply to them as well as making their own judgment some sort of holy calling instead of a fleshy, worldly way of going about things.
