“When Jesus returns, He will not be in a good mood.” That’s honestly a devotional?

The quoted portion of this title is a direct cut and paste of C?N. I’m not sure what disturbs me more, the fact that someone would write this or that people would read anything else the guy had to write after he wrote it. From this “devotional piece” we get the above quote. So unless the church becomes the “true soldiers of the Cross” which I am guessing means lie, slander, and use really poor logic Jesus won’t be in a good mood when He comes back. That is not only one of the dumbest things I’ve ever read, it’s border line heresy. Doesn’t it sound Semi-Pelagian. Talk about drivel with a purpose. Read it here.

I’m adding that one to my quote journal.
Of course Jesus will be in a bad mood! God is Angry, remember? It makes perfect sense.
Thanks for the laugh.
How is it Semi-Pelagian sounding?
Joe, I agree, somehow saying he’ll “not be in a good mood” reminds me of the threats my mom would make about my fathers impending arrival from a day at work…
Neil
I think I saw that on a bumper sticker once. Only I’m pretty sure it was meant as joke. Something like, “Jesus is coming, and boy is he p*ssed.”
This is a bit strange. At first glance, Ken Silva appears to be a “fundamentalist by not listening”, yet what he says can be explained with the hyper-masculinity model.
Men need to become truly masculine and women the feminine shadow of the hyper-masculine through motherhood.
If persons do not fall in the shadow of the hyper-masculine they will be destroyed by Jesus Christ the Glorified (who is quintessentially hyper-masculine) because God cannot tolerate those contrary to His nature.
How did the good news get turned into the bad news?
1. And we end our brief look at “The Great Commission†with verse 20, where Jesus of Nazareth continues — and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. Not just the stuff they happen to like; but everything that Jesus taught—like for instance—Matthew 10:38 — anyone who does not take up his cross [daily] and follow Me is not worthy of Me.
This is not just semi pelagian, this is the teaching of obedience of works, and it is pure pelagian…
Finney is called a Semi pelagian… and he taught the same thing that is stated above… that full present obedience is a condition of justification…
2. After stating that only pure obedience (our works) will satisfy God Ken shows us his true “Idol.â€
As Dr. John MacArthur—one of the great Bible teachers the Lord has given His Body today—whose Grace Community Church in Southern California has some twelve thousand members— points out on his book Hard To Believe that the real Jesus would know nothing about the man-centered seeker sensitive easy believism which is taught throughout way too much of our Lord’s Church.
So this missive misses that Ken Silva is a semi pelagian at best but at worst is blind that he does not believe in salvation by Grace through faith ALONE… he simply misses that no man is obedient as Romans 5:19 teaches
Ken teaches people that we need our own righteousness to add to God’s for true obedience instead of believing that he is dead in his sins and must receive the LIfe of Christ.
iggy
Iggy,
Just think…Rick Warren would have been ‘convicted’ of heresy on much less evidence than you just provided on Ken Silva.
How ridiculous.
The blind leading the blind…truly. Some serious praying needs to be done today for them.
Joe
Joe,
Ignorance is one thing, but to be so blind and to call others to follow in his pelagian theology… and totally miss it…
Then to brown nose with all the accolades to the one and only true man of God… John MacArthur…
I mean, even Keith should be able see how sick Ken is! (Love you Keith!)
iggy
Imagine Anon and Ken in a converstation if you will… and the twilight zone will seem normal!
In II Peter, there is an interesting passage regarding hyper-masculinity, human masculinity and squares.
Just as man is the shadow of the hyper-masculine, higher level animals are the shadow of man – beasts are squares to the cube-man so to speak.
Peter tells us of those who behave like beasts, speaking of things they have no comprehension or knowledge.
I dare someone to post that missive on Steve Camp’s blog… I want to, but I wont… but I just wonder how Steve would respond… if you left Ken’s name off.
iggy,
Probably best to scream and cover your ears (moderate).
What a coincidence. I’m not in a good mood, either.
So, iggy thank you
Ken got his hands on it.
“I’m not in a good mood, either.”
It must be something in the water. I was suffering from the same thing.
Neil makes a good comment on this post.
Anon,
I am just not sure you “get it”… You have stated some very strange “extra biblical” things then stated i am not educated enough to know truth…
Believe it or not. I think you are a fearful one hiding behind
“anonymous” and IF you had even tried to connect your extra hyper relevatory message to the bible let alone to reality there might have been half a chance to have a conversation.
But, I promise you that Ken and you would have an interesting conversation…
Anon: Ken, God is a geometric shape with a shadow…
Ken: heretic
Anon: I am well educated and have great knowledge about God and stuff. It is a special knowledge straight from God but only I Gnosis what it is and only one can get it from God to me to all as I show how but I Gknow…
Ken: heretic!
Anon: You do not understand how Hyper male God is if you did you would know that Mary was he hyper estrogen and The Holy Spirit the Wholy hyperness of maleness and if you had more education God could enlighten you….
Ken: heretic!!! Semi pelagian man loving emergent!
Anon: Thank you.
Ken: I am saved by grace through faith and then I demand others to complete obedience by works to please God for that is the only way. Finney is a heretic and MacArthur is the right hand of God and works prove you are saved by Grace and Rich Warren is the new Pope and emergents caused the first flood!
Anon: So, Ken, I thank you.
iggy
What’s a “Semi-Pelagian”? I was raised in Cut n Shoot Texas…we didn’t learn them big words like that in school.
Pelagius was a heretic who taught that man was not fallen and that we could combine the OT and NT teachings and do good works to be saved. Semi Pelagian is the view that though one is saved by Grace, they must “do works” to keep that salvation.
iggy
Iggy,
You’re dialog between Anon and Ken was pretty good. Regarding the former, if we don’t feed the need I think he’ll disapear…
To be a Pelagian (semi or full) wouldn’t the obedience requirement be in reference to salvation? Obedience in the sense of being worthy of our calling after conversion is not Pelagianism as I understand it.
I’m not taking Ken’s side, just exploring your’s…
Neil
OK – your above post answered my question – I think. Are you saying that Ken believes we keep our salvation through works?
Neil
Neil,
Truthfully I am not sure if even Ken knows what he believes which I do not hold against him. I see that sometimes he claims to not be a Calvinist… then he states things Calvinists do and condemns others for not being “Calvinistic”…
He called me a semi pelagian and misses that I am not… in fact I pointed out over and over he is.
My view on obedience is found in Romans 5: 19…
We have no obedience, say to lean on the obedience of Jesus and walk in faith that all He did was sufficient for us. We then are to “continue to work out your salvation with fear and trembling, for it is God who works in you to will and to act according to his good purpose.”
Notice that Paul states that it is God who work in us to will and to act… we do not act on our own will that we initiate the “works” but God…
I took Maj Ian Thomas’ motto for my own…
I see Ken teaching that “works” are our own sign of obedience toward God… If that is the case as in this last missive he wrote then he is at very least semi pelagian…
I cannot do anything that is acceptable to God except trust His Son and by the Power of the Holy Spirit, love God and love others… none of that comes from me and if it did it would be tainted and not acceptable to God for only what Jesus sees the Father do He does… so all that Jesus does is of God and of His will and not of mine.
Be blessed,
iggy
I too concluded that ‘Pastor’ Silva does not believe in salvation by grace alone, but for other reasons. He also denies ‘once saved always saved’ which troubles me because he claims to be Reformed. If you are at all interested, I have made two posts concerning his post ‘Unity in the body of Christ’. I will be making at least one more post outlining his major theological errors of which there are many. Thanks for the post. I am happy to know that God’s grace is alive in some parts of the Body of Christ! Live from my Blackberry, your fellow pilgrim, jerry.
Just….wow…wow….wow.
FYI guys and gals…
Over at http://www.symphonyofscripture.com, they posted Ken Silva’s missive in question, and the comments are open, if you’d like to say something. Though they do moderate sometimes, so watch it. And Ken is commenting there, he tore me down pretty good on “The Philosophy of Evangelism”, so there’s a pretty good chance you’ll get eaten alive too.
Just sayin…incase you want to take it to the hole. Slam dunk.
LOL Joe
Paula,
The only real “wow” is how Ken takes the Great Commission passage and turns it into a “works righeousness” teaching negating grace…
And to that I agree… wow… Ken’s own words make him Pelagian…
iggy
I only slapped the whole “Semi-pelagian” thing in there because Ken uses that phrase more than your typical Jr. Higher changes his socks…
How is this different from any other day?
The more I read Pastor-teacher Silva’s stuff the more I become convinced that he doesn’t really know what he believes. Joe C your thoughts in the thread at symphony are dead on with what I have been saying in my posts. At the root of this question is what is the functional basis of our unity in Christ? I agree that it is NOT point by point agreement in matters of theological formulation. It simply cannot be. This doesn’t mean everyone is right, but neither does it mean that everyone is wrong. I think it means that all of us are pilgrims, searching by faith, and praying along the way that God will use us in spite of ourselves. I think most who visit here get that. I’m praying that soon Pastor Silva will too because I fear that as long as point by point mental assent to a theolgical formulation is the criteria for being a Christian none of us will ever be saved by God’s grace.
