This is Research?
This post is an example of why I can’t take anything that gets posted on CR?N seriously. Anyone with any kind of comprehension skills should be able to see the fact that the “Christian Porn” site linked to in this article is a thinly-veiled and sad attempt at parody (I will not put a link to the site here, since it is so vulgar). Sadly the “editor” doesn’t possess the skills necessary to research his or her way out of a wet paper bag.
Also, if the editor did any actual research into the xxxChurch, he or she would see that the ministry actually takes a very strong stand against pornography and is helping Christians who are caught up in it. Again, though, it is easier to create a straw man and blame everything on the EC rather than actually debate facts.

I’m very glad you posted on this Phil…
When I saw that on CRN, I almost gagged. Not because of the filthy link provided to that weird satire article, but the fact that with NO proof, sources, or even Scriptural support he attributed the article, and XXXChurch to the Emergent movement.
Does anyone else notice the ‘conspiracy theory’ nature of CRN? If it’s not in agreement with the doctrinal points of CRN it’s “Emergent” or “Warrenite”. I mean, look at the post, there’s no evidence any of that has ANY links to the Emergent movement, but he blames it on them anyways. Emergent is NOT that big of a movement comparitavely speaking, but I suppose that’s what happens when you focus in all the time on specks of sand.
Your last sentence is spot on Phil. It’s easier just to blame your scapegoat (like they did with Jesus), than to address what actually is going on.

Good grief, I cam across that site about 2 or 3 years ago and could tell it was a parody…
And with the fruit that xxxchurch has born, I know of at least 3 cases of them leading rather big name porn stars to Christ and out of that business, (and not I did not know who they are except that they debate Ron Jeramy who is for porno, but agaisnt children viewing it.), let alone many people being help by them concerning porno addiction.
I am one of the first to say their ways are unorthodox (not in that heretical way) and I might not agree with some things they do, but this insistence that the human body is dirty or evil that people at CRN and SoL seem to think is very heretical and is pure Gnosticism.
These guys just have no clue on so many things it is almost like they are also a parody.
I wonder how many people have read anything from CRN and Slice and turned to Jesus?

Well Iggy, some of the ‘devotionals’ on their site from old dead pastors have certainly helped me in terms of respect, fear, and giving Glory to God, and motivating me to live out my faith with Jesus being the prime object of that faith, and always keeping Him in view. But as for just the angry ‘posts’, yeah, not much help, too much vitrol to wade through in order to get anything ‘good’ out of them.

I’m insulted.
Us evil emergents are deeply concerned with image and being hip.
If we made a parody like that it would have looked much classier, with great design…

Joe,
The funny thing is I found a few people like that myself… but then found the source… like the Tozer devotional they cut and paste… and which I use as “great quotes” on my own blog.
But, as far as bearing fruit of people getting saved, I bet if anyone actually did by their ministry they would shout it from the mountains… but I doubt that they do get anyone “saved” at CRN… maybe at some of the personal sites… but not from the rubbish they toss at us at CRN or Slice.. all I read there is just vomited milk passed as meat… (sorry was that too graphic?)
Be blessed,
iggy
