Halloween Contest Results

Back at the beginning of October, we posted an informal ‘contest’ of sorts to guess the following:
guess the number of articles from the following ODM sites that reference the “evils†of Halloween during the month of October:
Well, the results are in, and are pleasantly surprising. Here’s the tally:
- CR?N - 0
- AM - 0
- Old “Truth†- 0
- TeamPyro - 0.5
- SoL 3.0 - 0
Perhaps after the deluge from Sol 1.0 in 2006, enough had been said on the subject (or we helped to pre-emptively staunch the flow in some bizarre form of reverse-psychology). Regardless, the total was nil.
So, from the thread, the winner is:
Iggy (he guessed 6, which was the lowest guess).
Congratulations ![]()

LOL!
I want to thank my God and my mother… without either I would not be here today. (not that I was immaculately conceived it is just that my father did not have much to do with me in my life).
Thank you very much!

Teampyro used to link to SOL, and Phil Johnson vigorously defended Slice on several occasions. Notice the number of links to Slice that Phil has just to rub them in the critics’ faces. And the anger and rage….
Now what happened? The SOL link has quietly disappeared and has not resurfaced.
Was there a falling out that I missed out?

David, this will always be a mystery to me. If Mrs. Rob Bell started her own blog and chronically rebuked MacAuthur, Sproul, and Piper with caustic words and demeaning names people like Pyro would aggressively question her Scriptural mandate as a woman.
But Ingrid is not questioned because she throws stones at the same targets. I thank God for Mrs. Bell even though I do not know her, but Godly women who have to hear things about her husband personally and yet do not retaliate must walk in God’s grace.

Rick,
It is called moral relativism and situational ethics. Watch dogs condemn it and use it.

Halloween is evil; FOX said so on The Simpsons this weekend, and if the ‘devils portal’ says halloween is evil, then it’s gotta be for sure. Besides, I’m sure the Apostle Paul would have encouraged the children to dress as demonic apparitions in celebration of a overtly pagan holiday. Why not? Freedom in Christ, right?
But yeah, I was personably surprised at the lack of anti halloween posts on the ODM sites. And they call themselves “Christian”. Har.
I say all things in jest, of course.
Although, in reference to Mr. Bell, I’ve read some of his stuff and he’s said a few weird and questionable things. I will not bring them up because that’s outside of this discussion, but has anyone else noticed he’s a bit off?
Love to all,
Joe

Joe C,
I’ve said many things that were probably considered “weird and questionable”, and for that matter a lot of what Jesus said seems “weird and questionable”.
Bell’s been discussed a lot here, just search around. My one pice of advice would be to do your own research on the matter before you believe anything you read on the internet.

Well that’s my point, I did do some research on my own. Going to the horses mouth and all (Bell’s writings). Jesus said questionable things, yes, but He’s God, and God’s Wisdom is always ‘weird’ compared to Man’s. And besides, Jesus’ comments were questionable to whom? The false interpretation of the Mosaic Law? Of course, because that was the intent. Comparing Bell and Jesus is like comparing apples and oranges, I think, Phil. Two completely different situations. Jesus IS The Revelation, Bell can only work with what has been given from God in Scripture already. If he’s deviating from that, I think it would be obvious to anyone who reads Scripture and Bell’s writings, and compares them. You know? I think he’s blown it on a important few points, that’s all.
Also, I can understand teaching something unscriptural, in your flesh or in ignorance, that’s absolutely bound to happen to all teachers. I mean how many false teachings does it take to make someone a false teacher, can we make ANY mistakes?? We’re sinful, and we’re human, so of course. But the difference is God correcting you and you accepting that correction and repenting of your bad teaching, right? That makes a huge difference, I feel.
What say you friend?
Joe
